Growing up through High School

Ok.. Let me officially start this thing by saying hello to all my viral community. My name is Shaida but every here calls me Shay for short.  Nobody really likes to try to learn to pronounce it. It's really funny because the other day at work, I was telling them my name like over 10 times and each way was a different way. LOL. People are slow. Well I was born in Maryland but moved to the Upstate of South Carolina when I was in the 5th grade. A real change of pace. I went from being in a gifted and talented school to going into 5th grade relearning things i learned in the 3rd.

Well when I started middle school is when the teasing started. I used to be over weight I thought for my age but in all reality now looking back.. I was going through puberty. My middle school was really segregated. You were either in the popular white crowd or the popular black crowd and neither groups really liked me. The white kids had their own views on the black kids so they didn't give them a chance and the black kids didn't like the fact that I "talked white" (I'm quoting what I was told not what I thought) so they didn't like me either. So I stayed with a small group of friends and with what I knew best.. School and music. I started playing violin in the 6th grade and stuck with it throughout the rest of high school. I even lettered in Orchestra.. Who does that? lol.
Well in 8th grade, I started getting along with all groups of people and ran for student body president and won. It was the first time I felt accomplished in doing things.

Well highschool was practically the same way just with more people. Didn't have alot of friends the first year because I didn't go to the same high school as everyone did in middle school. I was so mad at my parents for moving us because I wanted to go to highschool with all of my friends. So I play violin through high school and towards the end became friends with alot of people through yearbook and our red cross youth group. I loved red cross youth group beacause it gave me alot of friends from different schools. Actually when I started college at Clemson, me and three other people in the group made a pact that the first day after school started (yeah 4 of us went to Clemson) to find each other and we did.
